This week, some of our children attended Great Coates Primary Academy to kick-start our Empathy Day celebrations with children from across Harbour Learning Trust.
We’ve had a shoutout on Twitter from the Empathy Lab team!
We can’t wait for our whole-school celebrations this Thursday.

Year 4 Explore Changing States with a Hands-On Science Workshop
This week, Year 4 were thrilled to take part in a Hands-On Science workshop all about changing states of matter. Led by a visiting science specialist, pupils explored the fascinating processes of melting, cooling, and solidifying through a series of exciting experiments.
Using real equipment and materials, children observed how wax changes from a solid to a liquid and back again – and even got the chance to make their own colourful candles! The workshop included:
Investigating how heat affects different substances
Watching wax melt and solidify safely
Learning new scientific vocabulary like evaporation, solidification, and insulation
Collaborating in groups and sharing observations
The session brought science to life and supported our current science topic brilliantly. The children were engaged, curious, and full of questions – it was a memorable experience that helped deepen their understanding of materials and their properties.
A huge thank you to our science visitor for making it such an interactive and inspiring afternoon!

Year 6 Explore the Human Heart with Hands On Science!
Year 6 had a fascinating and unforgettable science experience this week as they took part in a Circulation and Heart Dissection session led by Hands On Science.
Pupils learned all about the structure and function of the human heart and the circulatory system, building on their classroom learning with real-life application. The session included a live dissection, giving pupils the chance to examine a real heart up close and explore how blood flows through the body.
Everyone was engaged, curious, and respectful during this hands-on session, with plenty of excellent questions and scientific vocabulary on display.
A huge thank you to the Hands On Science team for delivering such an exciting and educational session!

We had great fun today celebrating our friendship with St Marks Church, who wowed us with their band. We love working alongside you. Thank you for coming in.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to make an Easter bonnet and join us for our parade today… we loved it!
We hope you have a wonderful Easter break!

We were delighted to welcome Healing Academy, Oasis Wintringham, LHP Housing and Compass Go to our parents and carers evening today.
Mr Blockley from Healing Academy was delighted to speak with a number of families about their plans for secondary school and all the wonderful things Healing Academy has to offer – proud to be part of Harbour Learning Trust. We’re not sure what tickled Miss Wright and Mr Blockley but they seem to be having a giggle!
Similarly, Mr Hyldon from Oasis Wintringham enjoyed meeting the Year 5s and 6s this evening.
Our friends from Compass Go were delighted to talk to parents and carers about how they can help support children’s mental health and wellbeing, and colleagues from LHP were on hand to offer housing advice and guidance.
Thank you all for attending!

Thank you very much to St Mark’s Church for hosting our first Art exhibition. The children were delighted to showcase their work from this term, inspired by Picasso, Banksy and Henry Moore. We’re feeling very proud of our creative children, well done!

In order to raise money for Comic Relief and books for our library, the staff bravely volunteered to allow children to set them a challenge. Each teacher was given a jar, which families could put money into each day. The top 3 earners were then given a challenge by the children.
Mr Bowden was the top earner, and he had to face a Bushtucker Trial. Would you eat a cold spaghetti hoop and cinnamon sandwich?
Miss Wright and Mr Dickson were runners up a nd were challenged to swap personas for the day.
Thank you to the team for being good sports, and to our generous families and community members who raised a fantastic amount of money, which will go a long way to families in need, and our school library.
