Key Information

Curriculum

Our curriculum has been designed with three goals in mind:

  • To ensure all pupils have the opportunity and support needed to fulfil their academic potential.

We achieve this by:

  • Providing a relevant, stimulating and progressive curriculum that equips children with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful;
  • Offering a coherently planned and sequenced curriculum that is rooted in remembering more and therefore knowing more. This is achieved through building on prior knowledge, developing and extending vocabulary;
  • Embedding reading throughout our curriculum, in order to develop confident and fluent readers who choose to read for knowledge and pleasure;
  • Having high expectations in all subjects;
  • Adapting the design and delivery of the curriculum to meet the needs of all pupils.

  • To provide children with the life skills, experiences and cultural capital needed to be successful in the future.

We achieve this by:

  • Educating our children about the wider world, and life beyond North East Lincolnshire;
  • Providing a curriculum that reflects our local community;
  • Modelling and encouraging high aspirations for pupils’ futures;
  • Enriching our curriculum through a wide range of visits, visitors, experiences, and the celebration of cultural, religious and global events;
  • Providing a wide extra-curricular offer.

  • To develop personal attributes, which enable children to be safe, healthy, happy, responsible citizens.

We achieve this by:

  • Developing a culture that prioritises wellbeing and mental health.  This encourages pupils to thrive socially and emotionally, fostering a readiness to learn and preparing them for life in modern Britain;
  • Providing a safe and stimulating learning culture, which develops strength of character through the promotion of confidence, independence and resilience;
  • Allowing opportunities for children to realise, nurture, develop and share their talents;
  • Teaching a rich PSHE curriculum, where children learn to celebrate diversity, equality and to be tolerant and respectful citizens;
  • Delivering a curriculum rooted in safeguarding, that teaches pupils how to be safe and responsible.
